Printing-Painting and 'Messing' up fabric
Posted on 6:52 AM by Unknown
Today we scientifically experimented with oil-water and paint. It started very quiet and neat....
As time went on it got a little wilder..throwing all sorts of stuff in the oil. Stuff like ALL of the paint, baking soda, soap & salt, etc...To see what would happen to the paint bubbles.
And then this guy smeared himself with paint and 'accidentally' made a very nice t-shirt.
That lead to painting, smearing, printing and just messing up a huge piece of fabric...
This project was good for 1,5 hours of fun, right about until they both started to 'work' the floors and walls while i was on the phone around the corner. End of PLAY!!

Color is a miracle!
Posted on 1:23 AM by Unknown
When it comes to parenting there are e few things i still think I have to learn to balance. Like when to let them find their own way in things to discover and when to set firmer boundaries. And mostly I have a hard time following through on the boundaries part. The way I was parented as a young child wasn’t that good of an example in retrospect, so I can’t draw a lot from there. But that's a whole other can of worms i'm not gonna open up right now...
But as far as it goes for the wild and deep creative flow set in me, this flow was opened up at a very young age by my mother. This is one of the greatest things that she did and that shaped me most I think. She introduced me to the wonders of all that can be made with your own hands. So when I see my kids thinking outside the box with something simple like dry pastel crayons, I am the last person to stop them when they discover that drawing on paper is boring and drawing on the table is much more fun because of the layers and heaps of powder it can produce. So in about one hour the box with new pastels was almost half of what it was and the table, no not just the table, the whole room looked like a big color cloud had just landed there.
When I see them going wild with color like this, inside me all goes wild too :-)
And when I hear them shout out things like ‘Mommy, mommy, I know where pink comes from!!!!’ When she just put a layer with red over a layer with white, I just feel so proud of her! She has just discovered the magic of colors too!!

Printing with flowers....
Posted on 9:49 AM by Unknown

With flowers picked from my mother’s garden we printed on paper. The way we did that was by laying the flowers in between two pieces of paper and hit the paper with a hammer J
This did not turn out quite like I hoped so then we tried to just ‘gently’ roll the paper the with a roller.. this was a much better solution. The results were really nice and raw..
