The question raised was whether love is something that happens to you or if it is an active choice?
I like the word 'active' being used here :-)
This quote below was posted in that facebook group. I like what it says and believe it’s good to think about where one stands in this: Where i stand in this subject is that i think Love is a commitment. For me it's an irrational process, which i want to make sustainable by consiously commiting, by chosing to be true to the love i feel. For wich i am grateful as it has opened my heart in ways i never thought possible. It's an active choice for me to stay true to my loving open heart...
"For this reason loving involves commitment. We are not automatic lovers of self, others, world, or God. Love does not just happen. We are not love machines, puppets on the strings of a deity called “love.” Love is a choice—not simply, or necessarily, a rational choice, it moslty is an irrational one, but still it is an inner choice. It's a willingness to be present to others without pretense or guile. Love is a conversion to humanity—a willingness to participate with others in the healing of a broken world and broken lives."
